Pink Lake in Australia



Usually, lakes are transparent, blue or green in color, but Lake Hillier in Western Australia has a striking pink shade. The lake spans only about 600 meters wide but its rose pink color is unmistakable. It’s due to the presence of algae that produces carotenoids, such as Dunaliella Salina, a type of halophile green micro-algae especially found in sea salt fields.
