The maritime rotifer Brachionus plicatilis in its amictic type makes a ton of eggs that following a particular stage of maturation, within the female’s system, are expelled in the exterior connected by a stalk to the mother’s system. This peculiar procedure-that is the transportation from within to the outdoors of the mother’s system-is quite speedy and requires a ton of work from the animal. That is why following the “start” the mom would seem exhausted. The egg outdoors the system continues its progress.
